Four Reasons To Choose Underground Electric Fencing For Your Dog

About Me
Choosing New Pets

I have always loved animals, but when my son announced that he wanted a new pet, I had to stop and think about it for awhile. I was nervous that it would make messes throughout my house, and I wasn't sure that he was capable of looking after the animal like he should. I began thinking about how to streamline his experience, and within a few days, we had agreed on a pet we could both love: a cute little parakeet. This website is for anyone out there who is thinking about adding a pet or two to their home.

Four Reasons To Choose Underground Electric Fencing For Your Dog

When you own a dog, fencing in your backyard makes life so much easier. You can let your dog out to run and play without having to accompany him or keep him on a leash the whole time.

When it comes time to choose a fence, you have two primary options: an above-ground fence made from something like vinyl or wood, or an underground electric fence. While there are benefits to both, most homeowners are happier with electric fencing. Here are four reasons to choose this option.

1. Underground fences are easy to install.

Installing an above-ground fence is a big project. If you do it on your own, you will need a few helpers, and you'll probably spend at least an entire weekend doing it. Underground fences, on the other hand, are easier to install. You just have to dig a shallow trench, put the line inside, and bury it. One person can easily install an underground fence on their own.

2. Underground fences are low-maintenance.

With the exception of vinyl fencing, which comes with a high price tag, most types of above-ground fencing require maintenance like painting or staining. Underground fencing does not require this maintenance. You'll save time, which you can use to hike, walk, and enjoy other activities with your dog.

3. Your dog can't go over or under an electric, underground fence.

You may figure your dog can't jump over a standard fence, but all it takes is accidentally leaving a wheelbarrow or bin too close, and suddenly he can climb over. Many dogs also dig out underneath fences. Even if your dog does not ultimately escape under the fence, this makes a mess. There's no way for a dog to go under or over an electric fence. His or her collar will start beeping a few feet back from the fence, so the dog won't even come up to the actual fence line.

4. Underground fences don't spoil your landscape.

If you love the way your landscape looks currently, you may not want to disrupt it with an above-ground fence. And to keep a dog in, a fence has to be significantly tall, so you may not be able to see over it and enjoy the scenery in the background. Underground fences are invisible, so you can keep on enjoying the landscape in the same manner that you always have. Add a low fence at certain points along the fence line if desired.
